Rotec Hydraulics to Unveil First-of-Its-Kind Zero-Emission Electric Winch System at The Emergency Services Show
The breakthrough technology was developed by Rotec’s in-house design team in response to a commercial sector request for an eco-friendly alternative to traditional hydraulic winches. While industry competitors claimed a high-performance electric winch with proportional speed control would overheat, Rotec successfully engineered a solution that matches—and exceeds—hydraulic capabilities.
Heavy-Duty Performance with Zero Emissions
Engineered with premium components, the system delivers precise control without sacrificing raw power.
Key performance features include:
- Dual Operational Modes: Fully optimized for both precision lifting and high-power pulling.
- Infinite Proportional Control: Operators utilise in-cab joysticks or a remote pendant for infinitely variable speed control, allowing for significantly more accurate and safer load placement than legacy hydraulic systems.
- Unlimited Run Time: An advanced, integrated thermal management system actively regulates both the motor and the motor inverter. Combined with natural air cooling, it prevents overheating during prolonged, continuous extraction operations.
- Harsh-Environment Durability: Built using robust, high-quality components specifically selected to perform reliably in challenging and unpredictable recovery environments.
"This project is a prime example of how Rotec Hydraulics is spearheading electrification within the fluid power industry to enable decarbonization of the hardest-to-abate sectors," said Paul Prouse, Managing Director of Rotec Hydraulics Ltd.
"The integration of Parker IQAN technology allowed us to achieve enhanced performance and functionality over the equivalent hydraulic systems. We are eager to show rescue and recovery professionals how this system can help them hit net-zero goals while actually improving operational precision."
Fully Customisable for Specialist Fleets
Recognised as the Manufacturer of the Year at the Somerset Business Awards, Rotec Hydraulics does not just supply parts; they deliver end-to-end, tailored engineering. The new electric winch system is fully customisable to suit specific vehicle configurations and frontline operational requirements. Emergency service clients can specify custom rated line pulls, line speeds, and rope types/capacities.
Visitors to Stand D69 can explore the system, view technical specifications, and consult with Rotec's design team regarding custom fleet integration, manufacturing, fitting, and on-site servicing options.
