Are you
prepared for sudden cardiac arrest? Having a life-saving defibrillator
on your premises is essential for ensuring that rapid action is
taken in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
Defibrillators are available in two versions: A Semi-Automatic
Defibrillator measures the casualties heart rate and prompts
the user to administer a life-saving shock when necessary. Whilst a Fully
automatic Defibrillator administers the shock without the user's
input.
What is a defibrillator? A defibrillator is a
device that gives a high-energy electric shocks to the heart if someone is
having a cardiac arrest. The high energy shocks are called defibrillation
and play an essential part in trying to save the life of anyone who’s in
cardiac arrest. A defibrillator can also be called a defib,
an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) or a PAD
(Public Access Defibrillator).
