Dr Chris Knifton

Associate Professor, Teacher Fellow and Co-Programme Lead for Apprentice Paramedics, De Montfort University
Chris' teaching focuses on neurocognitive, neurodevelopmental mental health, and equality and diversity teaching. He is a learning disability nurse, admiral nurse and social worker with over 15 years' clinical experience, and a further 15 years' teaching experience. He is co-chair of the Higher Education Dementia Network, and has written and published extensively in the areas of dementia and learning disability. Chris has a diagnosis of autism, and lived experience of clinical working, and recognises the challenges and opportunities that neurodiversity can bring. He particularly recognises the importance for more neurodiverse role models, and this is a core feature of his work.
