Fin Monahan joined the East Lowlands University Air Squadron in 1987 and entered the regular RAF service in 1991 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell. With extensive operational flying experience, Fin has completed missions over the Balkans, received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Afghanistan and directed air operations for 32 NATO+ nations as the Director of the NATO Joint Force Air Component during the response to the invasion of Ukraine. On leaving the RAF, he was appointed Chief Fire Officer for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, where he continues to lead a significant modernisation effort.
