Iryna Rybinkina
Consultant cardiothoracic anaesthetist and CEO of Smart Medical Aid
Iryna Rybinkina lived in the UK for 20 years, developed a successful career as a doctor, and built a family. When Russia attacked Ukraine, Iryna's Motherland, in 2014, she could not stand aside and created the Smart Medical Aid charity foundation, which began supplying Ukrainian doctors with the necessary medical and tactical equipment. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, Iryna realised that she had to be in Ukraine to help Ukrainians fight for their lives as efficiently as possible. Here, she created one more branch of the charitable foundation, gathered a team and a network of partnerships that helped find and deliver even more medical equipment, evacuate victims, and teach tactical medicine and first aid. Her husband and two small children remained abroad. However, Iryna understands that now she is where she is needed the most.
