Karen has created the "Swapping Hats" Initiative. This initiative enables Police, Fire or Ambulance in Hertfordshire to spend the day with one of the other blue light services, so police officers are spending a day with Fire or Ambulance and the same for Fire and Ambulance. This has been a huge success and created a much greater understanding of how each service operates on the front line. It has assisted in building relationships between each of the services, improving relationships when an incident requires all three services as individuals know each other. There is now a lead for Swapping Hats in Herts Fire and the East of England Ambulance Service, along with Karen. Karen secured all the processes to enable this to happen, generic permissions, health and safety risk assessments and everything to ensure this is a success. This initiative should be rolled out across the country as it is truly fantastic. Karen's leadership in driving this initiative, has resulted in its success.
