Lauren Merritt
I’m Lauren Merritt, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Co-Chair of the NFCC Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Group. I joined the Fire Service in 2021 as part of the Prevention Team and transitioned into this newly created role in 2024. Before joining the Fire Service, I worked in front-line mental health services across suicide prevention services, psychiatric hospitals, GP practices, community outreach and crisis support.
In my current role, I lead on the development and delivery of wellbeing initiatives that support the mental health of Fire and Rescue Service personnel, with a particular focus on prevention, early intervention and creating a positive wellbeing culture. I am passionate about improving mental health awareness, reducing stigma and ensuring staff have access to meaningful support throughout their careers.
