Leo McCann is Professor of Management at the School for Business and Society, University of York. With an academic background in sociology and history, he has conducted extensive research into the nature of professional work, especially in uniformed occupations, such as emergency healthcare, policing and military organisations. He is the author of 'The Paramedic at Work: A Sociology of a New Profession'.
