Chief Executive, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT)

Mark joined Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) as Chief Executive in September 2025. EHAAT is a well established HEMS operator with an active research and education programme, and a growing involvement in pre-hospital emergency care services in the East of England.

Prior to that he was Chief Executive of St Helena Hospice for 12 years. During his tenure there he was also Chair of the North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance; a founding director and first Chair of the Hospice Quality Partnership, a national procurement collaborative; an elected non-executive director of the campaign group Dignity in Dying; and a trustee and Vice Chair of national charity Compassion in Dying.

Mark is Chair, and a non-executive director of Southend Care Limited, a trading subsidiary of Southend City Council providing social care and tenanted services for older people and people living with learning disabilities.

Mark previously worked in the NHS for several years, as a commissioner and in senior operational roles in acute trusts. He began his career in HM Prison Service on their graduate leadership scheme starting as a Prison Officer and later working in several senior leadership roles in various prisons and policy groups across the country.

He has a degree in Politics from the University of Exeter and an MBA from Henley Business School.
