Mat contributes to sustainability beyond his role at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service; he is a co-chair of the Emergency Services Environment and Sustainability Group and held a key role in the development of the National Fire Chiefs Council Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change toolkit. He began his career in the energy consultancy, focusing on energy procurement and renewable energy generation projects.
