Researcher, Imperial College

I am a researcher in the Transport Safety group at Imperial College London.  My work explores the role of ‘zero responders’ - members of the public who may be present at incidents, investigating how pre-incident information can enable them to provide emergency first aid and help bridge the critical care gap during the early stages of a potential mass casualty incident.

My background is in psychology and information technology, including several years of experience working with computer systems within organisations.  I am particularly interested in the interface between humans, knowledge and systems and how this can contribute to effective emergency response and improved public safety.  I am also a volunteer emergency responder, this role has provided valuable practical insight and been instrumental in developing the virtual reality scenario used in my research.
