Ryan Buxton
Ryan Buxton is a paramedic researcher with a specialist interest in mental capacity and mental health law. His work focuses on mental capacity assessment, pre-hospital decision-making, and evidence-informed approaches to emergency care. He works as a clinical practitioner in urgent care and previously worked with an NHS ambulance service.
Ryan has completed a Master of Laws and is developing a doctoral research programme exploring paramedic application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. He also serves as a magistrate in the criminal court and undertakes a number of regulatory and governance roles. His professional interests include education and co-production, ethical practice, and improving the evidence base for mental capacity assessment in pre-hospital care.
