Simmy Akhtar joined Air Ambulances UK (AAUK) in March 2021 to build on the successes of the organisation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. With a strong, dynamic vision for the future of the charity, she is also at the heart of its plans to increase fundraising.
Prior to joining AAUK, Simmy was Chief Officer of Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent and Healthwatch Staffordshire where she championed the patient voice to support positive change in health and social care to meet their needs. She has held a number of senior leadership roles in the charitable sector and is a former trustee of the Patients Association where she sat on the Finance Committee. She previously practiced as a solicitor in the private legal sector.
